Things to Know about the 2022 NEET(UG) Exam

According to the 2019 National Medical Commission (NMC) Act, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the NEET. It is a uniform entrance examination for admissions to BDS, MBBS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS and other undergraduate medical programmes in recognised institutions in India. This national level eligibility cum entrance exam is conducted in 13 different languages. This year, NEET was conducted on 17 July (Sunday). Around 18.7 lakh candidates registered for this largest entrance exam. Moreover, this year, around 95% attendance was recorded, which is the highest ever in NEET. The exam happened in 546 locations throughout India and 14 cities abroad. It was organised in over three thousand plus exam centres. Let's analyse more about this year's NEET exam.

NEET (UG) 2022 Exam

The NEET(UG) is a highly competitive exam taken by lakhs of medical, dental and AYUSH aspirants. Candidates who participated in NEET 2022 reported that the question paper had a moderate level of difficulty. The majority of questions, according to aspirants in general, were NCERT-based, and no off-syllabus questions were reported.

The question paper comprised Physics, Botany, Zoology and Chemistry subjects. Each subject carries MCQs worth 180 marks and thus totals 720. The exam happened on a Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5.20 pm. Aspirants had to attend 180 MCQs in 200 minutes. Each subject comprised 45 MCQs, and each MCQ carried four marks.

Mode of Exam

The NEET (UG) exam for 2022 is a pen-and-paper objective test. It must be answered using a ballpoint pen in the OMR sheet that is provided at the exam centre. Furthermore, tampering with the OMR sheet at any point will result in the candidate's debarment for 3 years.

NEET Answer Key

The NTA will soon release the official answer key for 2022 NEET. Aspirants can even raise their objections by paying a fee. Thereafter, the final answer key and results will be prepared by NTA based on an evaluation of their feedback. The NEET answer key will be soon made available, along with OMR sheets and question paper. On their website, the NTA posts scanned copies of OMR sheets and the recorded responses of each candidate. First, confirm that candidates are checking the appropriate answer key corresponding to their booklet code. Then, begin assigning grades by giving four marks to each correct response. Each incorrect answer receives a negative mark. If they haven't responded to a question, don't award any marks. Now add the +4 and subtract the -1 scores accordingly. This will provide a tentative score.

NEET Result Date

Although the NTA has not yet specified a date for the release of the answer key and results, one can anticipate the NEET result date soon. Based on past years’ trends, results are usually announced within a month of the written exam. The highest scores obtained in the NEET all-India common merit list will be used to calculate the NEET UG percentile. The NEET scores, cut-off and percentile, play a vital role during the counselling process.

The NEET cut-off scores, total marks earned, percentile, AIR, marks earned in each subject, category rank and AIQ rank are all displayed in the results. The All India Merit List will include aspirants who achieved the required cut-off marks. Additionally, the AIQ or All India Quota list will also be created for qualified applicants who selected the AIQ category for admission.

Validity of the Result

The NEET scores for the year 2022 will be valid for the 2022–2023 academic year. The score will be valid for three years starting in 2022 if the applicant wishes to pursue medicine outside India.
